We are Pro Lax Custom Lacrosse, a full-service lacrosse stick dye and stringing company based in Bedford, New Hampshire.

At Pro Lax, we have one goal – to make your stick as unique as the way you play the game. Whether it’s a simple one-color fade to match your team, or a full custom dye and string job that shows your personality, we design and craft custom lacrosse heads that not only look good, they perform good too.
See below for more details on the process and how you can get your very own custom lacrosse stick.

This is our wheelhouse. We'll work with you every step of the way to design and dye the coolest, most personalized head ever. Know what you want and have a sketch ready? Perfect, we'll match it. Just have a basic theme and want us to run with it? Cool, we can do that too. If you're looking for inspiration, check out our Instagram page (www.instagram.com/prolaxcustoms) and check out the Highlights at the top, broken out by our most common themes. We dye boys heads, girls heads, goalie heads. See below for more FAQ questions around the process.
Pricing for a single color fade is $40, and the price goes up from there. Most dyes with names, numbers, or logos are $75-$100 plus the cost of materials, but every project is quoted individually.
Turnaround time is usually 1-2 weeks depending on the time of year (December and June/July are the busiest).
Since launching in 2018, we have strung over 1000 boys lacrosse heads, from brand new starter heads for a first-time player all the way to college and professional players. We talk to you about your age, position, and playing style, and can copy your favorite pattern or suggest one on our own. No two players are the same, and no two of our pockets are the same.
Pricing is $25 plus mesh (mesh is normally $25-$30)
Turnaround time is usually 24-48 hours.
Goalie heads require a knowledge of the position, and a delicate balance between the pocket depth to absorb shots and the throwing ability for laser-guided clears. We've been stringing goalie heads for some of the areas best youth, high school, and college goalies, and can help get your goalie dialed in!
Pricing is $35 plus mesh (ECD Impact mesh, which I recommend exclusively, is currently $40)
Turnaround time is usually 24-48 hours.
One of the more unique aspects of lacrosse is how variable the stick can be. Unlike baseball bats, hockey sticks, or basketballs, you may find 50 lacrosse sticks are your local big box stores that throw 50 different ways. The different meshes, knots, and string types all add to the variability, which can be overwhelming for new players. And don't get me started on inexpensive, brand-name complete sticks, which are often mass-produced overseas and, despite their marketing, absolutely can NOT be used by new players. That's where we come in - we'll take a look at the pocket you have, talk to your player about what they like/don't like, and can make or suggest adjustments so that your stick does exactly what you want it to do. Have you ripped a topstring or sidewall? We can help with that too.
I typically don't charge for pocket checks or simple repairs, unless I need to replace the mesh or restring the entire head. But the consult is free.
Please reach us at prolaxlacrosse@gmail.com (or use the form below) if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Every customer and project is different, and so there's no one answer.
Sometimes I buy all the materials, dye/string the head, and send it back to you in the mail. Sometimes people already have the head, drop it off on my front steps, and I run with the rest. Sometimes people just want a head strung without a custom dye, and I do that too. We are truly a custom shop, and so we'll do what you need us to do.
I will say if you don't have any of the materials, we place a couple orders a week from our local warehouse, and so it's often easier for me to order the materials and include your items in my next shipment. I always sell at standard retail prices, same as if you bought direct.
No, this is not possible. We can only dye new, white heads.
If you have a used head, reach out. We can usually dye those solid colors, but we won't be able to do any fancy designs.
Clear/opaque heads can typically be dyed solid colors - reach out and we can chat.
That's a bit of a loaded question, and comes down to how old you are, what your budget is, and what position you play. I’ll try to break it down.
Most pro-level field heads run around $100-$120 in 2026. If you’re a high-level youth player, or play HS or above, this is what you should plan on spending on a new, white, unstrung head. I am partial to Stringking and ECD heads myself, as they are high quality, take dye well, and warranty dyed heads, where other manufacturers won't. There are plenty of other good brands and we can chat about what works best for you.
For younger or newer players, or players who maybe just play town in the spring, there are a few cheaper heads I recommend – among them are the Stringking Mark 1, the Stringking Legend Int, or the ECD Bravo 1. All of these provide a good canvas for dyes, are solid heads, but are cheaper than those top-level heads.
If you are a newer player and go to Dicks (or another national sporting goods store) you will be overwhelmed by the amount of cheap, starter sticks there are. With the exception of Stringking and ECD, most are junk, are mass-produced overseas, and literally can't throw correctly. The pockets they come with will be terrible and the plastic may or may not dye or be durable.
Again, this is all my opinion, and other people might love what I don’t. When you reach out we can chat about what works best for you!
Maybe?
What I typically ask people is to go through my gallery on Instagram, or even google around to come up with ideas. If you know what you want for a design, sending me a drawing will get us on the same page too. Most of the time I’ll say yes, but if the design is too elaborate I’ll be completely honest with you. We have a vinyl cutter in-house, so we can often do team logos, numbers, names, etc.
One thing I try hard not to do is copy a design exactly. Most designs are someone's idea and creativity, and I don't then copy those ideas and sell them to other people. We can always get close to an existing design and customize it for you, but I try not to copy designs exactly (both my previous designs or other dyers').
Most people reach out by Instagram or Email (prolaxlacrosse@gmail.com). We'll go back and forth on what you want for materials, design, etc. Once we're close, I do up a quote using our tracking software called Jobber. If you’re good with the quote, we will then ask for a deposit equal to what we have to purchase (heads, mesh, shafts, etc). Once we receive it, we’ll order whatever we need and it will take 1-2 weeks to complete the dye job and send it back.
We have the dye, strings, and most mesh brands in stock.
Venmo is by far the easiest for us. @joeproulx, last 4 is 6462.
At this time, we don’t do anything with shafts. That said, there are some fancy shafts out there, and we can absolutely dye you a head to match a custom shaft you purchase.
Just about everything we have ever done will be on our Instagram account. You can either scroll down through our projects or use the little highlight groupings at the top if you want one of our common designs.
We run Pro Lax Customs out of our home, and don't have a storefront. But we're always available via email!
